Antiquarian Bookseller in “Baixa de Coimbra”

Know Miguel de Carvalho.

Miguel de Carvalho, although graduated in geological engineering, soon realized that his true passion was books and in 1994 he began his activity as an antiquarian bookseller. He started by opening a bookstore in “Ferreira Borges”, in downtown, that became small for the volume of books he accumulated. Thus, since 2011 he occupied the 3 floors of a beautiful 19th century building in the “Adro de Baixo” (number 6), where it gathers more than 45.000 volumes. He mostly works with old books relating to the Portuguese culture but, he also publishes proposals that interst him. One of the floors of this bookstore is dedicated to the exhibition of paintings, photographs, illustration, drawings and sculptures, all of wich are related to books. Miguel tries to make this a space for discussion and leisure and rare are the days when he doesn’t receive a returning friend’s visit. We strongly suggest you to visit this special space that “guards” true literary treasures. Hours: Monday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.; Tuesday to Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.. For more information: www.livro-antigo.com
