The theme of biennial contemporary art of Coimbra.
“Anozero – Biennial contemporary art innitiative of Coimbra” , promoted by the “Círculo de Artes Plásticas de Coimbra” in partnership with the Municipaity and the University of Coimbra, runs until December 30, 2017. This is an initiative that aims to offer prominence to the distinction of the University of Coimbra, Alta and Rua da Sofia as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and promote the dialogue between contemporary art and heritage. The theme of this second edition of “Bienal Anozero” is “Heal and Repair” and this is reflected in the exhibition of 35 works by national and international artists – works of light, sound, video, painting and sculpture – spread over several patrimonial spaces of the city: “CAPC Sede”, “CAPC Sereia”, Science Museums’ Natural History Gallery, “Colégio das Artes” and “Santa Clara-a-Nova Monastery”, among others. Part of the “Santa Clara-a-Nova Monastery” has been transformed into a remarcable circuit of contemporary art with about 12 thousand square meters that blends monumental architecture with contemporary art and is well worth taking the time to explore. All activities integrated in “Anozero” are free entry. For more information: www.anozero-bienaldecoimbra.pt.
