It hadn’t opened doors yet and there was already a waiting list. We are talking about MA Restaurant, the new Japanese restaurant in Coimbra that promises and has everything to be one of the best Japanese in the country.
The space, the number 13 on “Rua do Norte” in “Sé Velha”, was thought out and designed in detail: from the specific chairs they had made, to the colors and fabrics, not forgetting the exclusive crockery, cooked with a Japanese technique, where no piece is the same as the other.
The MA is distinguished by its intimate atmosphere and the unique experience it offers. It offers 10 seats at the kitchen bar, where you can enjoy an Omakase experience, be surprised by the selection of Chef Ricardo Casqueiro and watch the pieces being made, and 18 seats in the room where you can choose “à la carte”. The Menu is based on seasonality and sustainability: all the fish is used, from tail to head. One of the innovations is the investment on matured fish from the Portuguese coast and the use, in some pieces,of rice from Baixo Mondego. Fernanda Ferrão is responsible for the amazing desserts. Regarding drinks, the Garrafeira has 250 references of wines from eight countries, selected by Luís Martins, sakes, teas, cocktails and freshly ground filter coffee. Details that stand out for their difference and quality.
