A traditional restaurant in downtown
It is in the hidden “Beco do Forno” (number 12), in Downtown, that you find one of the most well known and traditional taverns in Coimbra: “Ze Manel dos Ossos”. A small and picturesque space whose walls tell their story: they are decorated with drawings and messages from customers and friends that pass by, pieces of “capas e batinas” of students and some others various objects. The fame of this house was many years old (opened in 1959) and people continue to come and happily queue to lunch or dinner there. The most popular dishes are “Cogumelos Aporcalhados”, “Feijoada de Javali”, “Ossos Cozidos”, “Arroz de Feijão Malandro com Costeletinhas”, “Barriguinhas na Brasa com Molho de Segredo” e “Polvo com Molho Especial”.
