New in town.
Right in the shadow of “Arco da Almedina“, next to the Almedina bookstore, the most recent tavern of Coimbra: Taberna D’Almedina.
Pedro Machado, the owner of the space, inspired by Trastevere, Rome, has created a “rudimentary” space that retains its wonderful ancient architecture and reclaims the tavern tradition of Coimbra.
The decoration of this restaurant must also be highlighted, featuring old pieces referring to the acient crafts of the Portuguese, such as woodworkers and washerwomen, under each work tool or photographs there are brief captions that explain them, in is a way that tries to honor and remember these old traditions.
Considering himself to be a demanding person, Pedro Machado only allows into the menu what he himself likes, offering cheese boards, hams and sausages accompanied, of course, by beer or wine. They are national, regional and local products that delight not only residents but also tourists. The little ones are not forgotten and the menu also offers pizzas.
The perfect environment is created for socializing between family and friends. With a privileged location, Taberna D´Almedina is thus a must for anyone visiting Coimbra. Hours: from 12:00 to 2:00; closes on Monday.
