The story of this store is the story of José Pereira Braga, 95 beautiful years old, 70 of which as a merchant in “Baixa de Coimbra“.
At 25 years old, he started working at the “Ferreira e Fonseca” Headgear and Shirt Shop, at number 33 in “Visconde da Luz da Baixa de Coimbra”. Later, in 1981, from employee to owner, he changed the name of the store to the current one: “Bragas Lda“.
At the head of the business are now also his sons, Otilia and Luís Braga, but despite his advanced age, José Pereira Braga spends his days at his shop.
At Bragas Lda you will find from the most classic to the most modern hats for men and women, national brands of men shirts, ties, belts and umbrellas.
Many of Bragas Lda’s customers are regulars, but tourists are not indifferent either, and besides being enchanted by the old architecture that the store keeps, they can’t resist to buying the high quality hats of offer. Bragas Lda keeps the soul and charisma of traditional commerce and is therefore a must for anyone who walks through the “Baixa de Coimbra”.
Hours: Monday to Saturday from 9:00 to 13:00 and 14:15 to 19:00. Closed on Sunday.
