The University Stadium of Coimbra (EUC), inaugurated in 1963, is deeply linked to the Academic Association of Coimbra. With more than 50 years of history, the EUC provides physical activity not only to the university community but also to the community at large through the organization of sports, recreation and leisure activities. There are several sporting modalities practiced in the EUC, for example: Handball, Athletics, Baseball, Badminton, Basketball, Boxing, Football, Futsal, Gymnastics, Roller Hockey, Judo, Karate, Rugby, Tennis, Archery, Volleyball, among others. Remarkably, in July 2018, the EUC hosted the European University Games with the participation of around 5,000 students from various universities in Europe and was the privileged stage for the largest multi-sport event ever held in Portugal. The complex will now feature residences for young tennis players who wish to study in the University. For non-students tennis courts start at €2,00/hour.
